Paperclip

Iterating on the simple idea of scale and the household object as modeling material, I had a paperclip bent into the shape of a chair on my desk throughout much of my undergraduate studies. Eventually it had to be made, so with a bit of trickery I bent this chair from an uninterrupted single line of 1/2” steel tubing, with 16 gauge steel sheet back and seat upholstered in white full grain leather.

Pictured right is an early prototype from the same collection, welded from 1/4” plate to mimic a traditional windsor carved seat.
